The Venue
A beautiful part of the island, with the glasslike mirror of water stretching to the tree-lined distance; tranquility personified!! The Hares decided to overlook this ideal hashing countryside, and ran us through the sugar-cane!!
The Run
The March-Hares gave a 10 minute briefing, informing the Hounds why they would not enjoy the run, and why they had not set the run around the peaceful lake because it had water in it!!! Surprise! Surprise! We were also told that the run would not be in the forest as it had plants in it!! We were also given a weather report for the last week, and informed that it had rained during the night, and in the morning……congratulations to the Water Board for choosing this area for their Reservoir!! The only people surprised by the weather were the Hares!! Don’t be surprised if the water coming through your taps in the next few weeks has a residue of flour in it, as the 10 kg of flour used by the Hares went into Nicolière’s bosom!!
Anyway – off we went, expecting to find “nul-flour” on our way through the sugar marshlands. There was the occasional unleavened bread which had survived the downpour, but our black mascot showed us the way. Then, tragedy struck. One of the FRBs got lost! As well as being “yesterday’s man” the lost soul found the residue of “yesterday’s trail” which escaped the rain. Recording the incident later, Alan was heard to have said, “## bleep #^## bleep !! bleep #$# bleep !%, bl–dy Hares!!” Anyway, the rest of the pack was guided nicely around the course by “one man and his dog!” Unfortunately, none of us completed the course accept for our GM, and the two Hares who guided him (creeps). We all missed “the best part of the run”. Shame on us all. Our GM, who was walking with the Hares at the time, was rewarded with a 6 inch gash on his leg for his trouble!! Aaaaah!! Sorry!!
Hash Trash Grading: A good run, and enjoyed by us all…..thanks to the Hares. Well done!
