On On:
A short flat hash briefly interrupted by a 300m 1 in 3 mountain climb. Good use of the
back-check kept the pack together and we all agreed it was jolly sporting of the hares to
send us all over a waist-high electric fence – 3 TIMES! Overall an ideal mish-mash hash
– bit of hill, bit of flat, rocks, rain, viewpoints and following the FRD– (Front Running
Decoy). The hash-circle was held in a beautiful spot under the spreading branches of a
large ficus. In short “Husband Good!”
Sinners:
An historic day for Mauritius with the inauguration of the new Prime Minister. Our RA
felt moved to call forward all Berenger look-alikes to atone!

The RA conspicuously failed to award himself a down-down for laying a false trail after
a box. Tut, tut…
400th Hash
Preparations and organisations are well underway. So that the 400th coincides with the
visit of our esteemed guest we shall be running weekly hashes. The question was raised
whether the 400th hash would be the relay-race itself or whether we should all run around
a bit on Sunday again. In true hash style, the mish-management decided to decide
something for the 400th but was not yet sure what would be decided. We await
instructions from our Supreme Overlord. Watch this space.
Smelly Blue
Arlene actually managed to make this look good and generously passed it on to Sybille
(twice blessed this week – see below)
Children’s Award
Again, no-one was deemed worthy of the prestige of handling a stuffed dodo.
Naming of Names
Eric has been working hard for months now to think of some suitable names and in all
that time has come up with 2. The third was a flash of inspiration.
Andy Belfitt is “The Hustler” for hustling Claude into a wrestling match and the rest of
us into running miles.
Sybille is “Barbie Doll” for being so glamorous
Tom Williams is “Decoy” for leading the hash on the wrong path – again (and again!)

Announcements:
1. Andy is organising the Round-Mauritius-Relay-Run for charity. He assures us that all is under control except that some of the runners don’t seem to be taking things at all seriously. Don’t let us down at the last minute please!
Anyway, he has enough volunteers who will each run either 5 or 10 km legs. About 30 more have volunteered to be stewards and check on the runners. Some more reserve runners still needed.
The idea is that we would set off on Saturday and run all night, arriving at the end (Baie du Cap) on Sunday in time for a reception/cocktail. HRH Prince Edward is scheduled to pay us a visit and meet the runners. Click here for full details
2. Training sessions are now in full swing at 5pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays at Gynkhana Club, also most days at about 5pm at Trou-aux-Cerfs. Come and join in! It may even do you some good !!
3. Would hashers please note that there is a deposit (money) on glass bottles (beer, softies)! Please do not throw them away with the rubbish (or even take them home).
4. Walks take place on most Sundays when there is no Hash. See the “Friendly walks” page for details.
