Greg Wepeneer, South African, been living here for 3 yrs and just got round to coming on his first hash.
Second Timers. None. (The hash-master duly took the down-down.)
On On. There were grave difficulties in circle-forming this time, in spite of the fact that we found a ready made concrete circle to stand on. For a start people weren’t paying proper attention to Blob’s horn, a foolish mistake: and it was raining so much that it wasn’t so much a circle as a group of huddles standing near each other.
Hares, Tomeck and Isabelle, were congratulated on a fine hash, well-marked in a beautiful setting.
2 Hash-holds reasonably early on gave David Colbert the chance to demonstrate his sprinting skills – twice:

There was plenty for the FRB’s who were having a job keeping ahead of the SCB’s amongst the cane fields. So good hash – lousy weather. We are pleased to report that Jean’s wife (of broken leg fame) is ok and should soon be well enough to leave the country (sounds bad !). Um, we’re pleased she’s ok, of course, not that she’s leaving the country. There was a T-shirt auction of shirts kindly donated last week by our Qatar guest Gail and this week by Danka, who modeled it as well – Danke, Danka! Etienne Brehain and Mike Burman were the buyers, though the price would have been even higher had Danka’s T-shirts been wet.

Alan and Jackie: for attempting to overturning Michael’s new car[eh? didn’t know that these new Citroëns were so light], Jean-Pierre stood in for Danka so that Patrice could stand next to her.

Announcements:
1. Andy is organising the Round-Mauritius-Relay-Run for charity. He assures us that all is under control except that some of the runners don’t seem to be taking things at all seriously. Don’t let us down at the last minute please!
Anyway, he has enough volunteers who will each run either 5 or 10 km legs. About 30 more have volunteered to be stewards and check on the runners. Some more reserve runners still needed.
The idea is that we would set off on Saturday and run all night, arriving at the end (Baie du Cap) on Sunday in time for a reception/cocktail. HRH Prince Edward is scheduled to pay us a visit and meet the runners. Click here for full details
2. Training sessions are now in full swing at 5pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays at Gynkhana Club, also most days at about 5pm at Trou-aux-Cerfs. Come and join in! It may even do you some good !!
3. Would hashers please note that there is a deposit (money) on glass bottles (beer, softies)! Please do not throw them away with the rubbish (or even take them home).
4. Walks take place on most Sundays when there is no Hash. See the “Friendly walks” page for details.
