A sad moment.
Grand Master announced that Blob had lost his father, Vic Latimer.
A minute of silence was observed in his memory.
Our condolences go to Pauline, Blob and all the family.

A goodly run with plenty of variety, set in the picturesque hills and valleys of ‘Le Val’. The trail included climbing up hills, slipping down again, walking through rivers (small ones), pushing through all kinds of undergrowth, up again, down again etc. etc. A very good dose of all the usual ingredients which make a Hash worth while. It was also longer than the average.
RA’s Down’s Down’s: (Eric kindly stood in for Patrice who was not in evidence today)
The culprits were:
Leslie – for being a little mean with his allocation of flour.
Anand – for aiding and abetting Leslie in his ‘Scottish ways’.
Alan – for ? doing something ? for 50 yds on the trail.
Arlene – for sitting down on the trail (well, it was a long way for such little legs).
Eric apologised for being ‘out of practice’.
Smelly Blue ‘T’ shirt.
Rey decided to be very diplomatic and hold a draw to choose the next lucky winner, who turned out to be Arlene ( it will probably be a little large on her !)

Many thanks to Claudette, Marie-Claude and company for the tasty food. They are the new winners of the “Rice Queen” title for the sheer quantity on offer. It was suggested that the run should have been marked with cooked rice instead of flour (as the latter was a little short in places).

Announcements:
1. Andy is organising a Round-Mauritius-Relay-Run for charity. He misguidedly thinks that Hashers could form a team to run all round Mauritius (240km) ! What nonsense.
Anyway, he already has a list of about twenty volunteers who will each run either 5 or 10 km legs. About 30 more have volunteered to be stewards and check on the runners. More runners needed. The idea is that we could set off on Saturday and run all night, arriving at the end (Baie du Cap) on Sunday in time for a reception/cocktail. Andy is hoping that the event will receive a visit from a very VIP who will be in Mauritius at that time (November).
2. Our 400th run is coming up soon. We may combine it with the above (?)
3. Would hashers please note that there is a deposit (money) on glass bottles (beer, softies)! Please do not throw them away with the rubbish (or even take them home).
4. Walks take place on most Sundays when there is no Hash. page for details.
