Mauritius Hash Trash 356
24-02-2002 Pont Naturel Alan Strong On & Gilbert Dodocop #356
Run at “Pont Naturel” on the South Coast not far from Mon Tresor sugar estate. A superb location on the beach but with a good deal of tree cover to provide shade. Hares Alan “Strong On” and Gilbert “Dodocop”. The first stop, only 100yds from the start was at the “Pont Naturel”. A very interesting and impressive structure in the rocks forming a bridge where the sea crashes underneath into a small pool. It is possible to walk across the “bridge” (if you have the nerve) with the waves on each side of you, and look down 60 feet into the swelling and surging water below. There is also a mini blow hole where air is pumped out each time there is a wave.
The rest of the run took us in and around woods, rivers, swamps, barachois (fish pond) and along the beach. A very good and varied run although rather hot (not Alan’s fault).
Our Grand Master, Tony “Barnacle Bill” made a comeback and conducted the proceedings, ably assisted by Eric “Hot Dog” as RA. A good ambience prevailed, assisted by the the presence of many visitors from around the World including Philippines, Poland, Germany, Italy, England, Korea.
A very tasty briani was provided by Sylvia and Brigitte.
