Mauritius Hash Trash 346

23-09-2001 Grand Bassin Jackie & Bob (J & B) #346

The day of the Hash !

Run at Grand Bassin, near the Gunga Talao, the course took us along the road for about 1.5km before climbing a fence and setting off into the dense jungle behind the holy places and lake. We were blessed with a generous down fall for most of the morning which did wonders to our rhumatism ! Jackie was the instigator of the run and managed to find nice and muddy trails in the woods. Some compensation was offered to the first 6 FRB’s with a mini-beer stop at the end of a false trail. The tour ended with a stroll up the 200 steps to the top of the hill for a nice view of the surrounding fog! Every one emerged from the experience with mud up to their waists (even “Snow White” was less than “squeaky clean”! )but, no problem, the rain soon washed most of it off and cooled us down. Some of the usual “walkers” even decided to run to keep warm. Comments were overheard that Jackie really fixed us this time and should not be asked to set a Hash again soon! Volunteers are urgently sought for setting future Hashes. Your chance to get your revenge. Our thanks to Charlotte for providing the food.

First Timers:
One family: Melissa, Olivia, Franchette & Gilbert Lest (Ray’s friends). All said that they would come again.

Second Timers:
Billy and Jinny from Korea. No hash name given because a new policy has been started. You have to earn it.

RA:
Down, downs awarded to sinners and criminals.
The hares – Jackie & Bob (J&B), also Jacques for not setting the Hash as had been designated. Finally, he had forgotten his wedding anniversary.
Hash Masters (Blob & Cupid) for looking like “big dicks” in condoms (Plastic rain coats).
Alan for wearing the green thing (coat).
Bob for “flashing” with his long, black coat but showing nothing underneath to the dismay of certain ladies.
Alan for saying out loud that he cannot drink beer on a Hash.
Alan & Angus for dis-honorable behaviour behind the public toilets.
Keith “Curly Top” for asking the Master whether we were allowed to climb over a fence!
Claude “the stripper” for marking the trail like a dog would do
Keith another down, down on his knees for having thrown beer away instead of drinking it.
Juliette for changing into immaculate dress and shoes before the Hash circle was over..

Special Down, downs:
The Master gave a down, down to our RA (Hot Dog) for interfering with the Master and also for not organising better weather. It was resolved that from now on, each time it rains on a Hash, the RA will be punished for not using his special powers!

Sad fairwell: We learned that Angus is leaving Mauritius for ever on Sunday next. Angus has been a very keen hasher since he joined us a few months ago. Good luck Angus, we will miss you!

Next Hash:
On 7th October, number 347. To be set by Tony and Eric

Food – line:
For 7th October, Penny & Merete.
For 21st October, Namsuk & Jinny

Directions to next Hash to be held at 10am on 7th October.
From the south: take the Triolet exit from the motorway (the roundabout with the horrible sculpture). Turn left at the traffic lights onto the A4 then next left onto the B41 towards Baie Aux Tortues. At the Maritim Hotel sign turn right over the narrow bridge and look for Hash signs. From the north: follow the Trou Aux Biches coastal road until you pass the Oberoi Hotel and look for Hash signs.
