09-09-2001 Malinga Doux Mamelles Rey & Angus #345

Held at the base of ‘Deux Mamelles’ mountain near Nouvelle Decouverte. Hares: Rey & Angus.
Another “linear” hash without any false trails or possibilities of short cuts! Nice and long and fairely demanding on the lungs! The course took us around the sugar fields and up to the Southern base of the ‘Deux Mamelles’. By then we were a little tired and out of breath but the scenery was worth it! The trail then disappeared down, down, down through undulating fields into the village of Creve Coeur (I think) about 1000 feet below. It then meandered around the village before (you guessed it!) up, up, up, to the starting point. Superb views from several points along the route including different sides of Pieter Both and most of the North of Mauritius. Many thanks to the hares who took on this assignment at short notice. Also thanks to Brenda & John for the food.

Pee-Shirt Awarded to Eric on his initiation as new RA

RA Tony “Barnacle Bill” acted as deputy RA. His first duty was to install a new RA. Eric “Hot Dog” being chosen for this high office. The installation ceremony was carried out with due pomp and dignity as only Tony knows how! The whole ceremony being accompanied by a suitable song, also delightfully intoned by Barnacle Bill in his best navy style.
Eric then took over. His first proclamation was that everyone should stand during his sermon. Down, downs were awarded to:
Stephanie – for short-cutting (or rather comming back after about 100meters)
Blobus – for mentioning that he wanted a vehicle ride back
Marete – for also looking for a bus ride home
RA himself – for “fertilising” the trail
Angus & Rey – for setting a good trail and allowing hashers impressive panoramas (thumbs-up all round)

Fashion Award Some of the most goodlooking and attractive men were selected by “Tinkerbel” and lined up behind a large sheet whereby the bottom part of their bodies were to be seen. A jury of discerning ladies (Namsuk, Rosemary & Jackie) was then asked to select the longest, strongest and most hairy ……… legs ! The prize went to “Shorty” Colbert.
