Mauritius Hash Trash 352
19-12-2001 Mug Jackie & Bob J & B #352
Red dress run at and around Coline Candos. Hares Jackie & Bob (J&B). The trail first took us through a lot of back streets of Vacoas and Bonne Terre so that the inhabitants could admire our ‘Red dresses’. A remarkable show with almost 100% of the runners joining in the spirit of the day. We were also very interested to discover the abundance of vegetable plantations and a fruit orchard where we saw lichees, mangoes and hydroponic tomatoes ! Now we understand why the area is called Bonne Terre. We were not subjected to any abuse from the inhabitants although some preferred to keep their distance and observe us from the safety of their living rooms while hiding behind curtains.
“On, on !”
The run included several false trails which delighted Kevin, It involved climbing up Candos Hill from the back side (a little steep, but a beer stop awaited at the top of this stage). On, on to the top and then down a steepish, slippery trail on the other side. All good fun. A ‘wimps trail’ and an ‘extreme-wimps trail’ were provided and proved popular. The run was followed by a bit of a party to celebrate Christmas. Jackie provided a super fruit cake with icing etc. Sylvia also brought a cake and helped Juliette & David with the food. We were also treated to some strange but delicious Vietnamese pancakes made by Soon. There was an abundance of Phoenix. The proceedings finished as usual, with a wonderful rendition of our anthem, Swing low, sweet chariot, with full actions, by Tony, Blob & Eric.
